Dumb mmmn unfortunately, 'Another Metal Podcast' has ceased blessing us with underground metal music from all over the world (previous episodes still available; Brett, sorely missed). There are many labels worldwide that showcase & promote quality metal of all genres; Seeing Red Records heartily picks up some of that slack by finding hidden gems like this that come out of nowhere. Elements of death & thrash sewn together with excellent production. Cheers!

about

"If Revocation, Arsis, and Opeth (death metal phase) inspired four Minneapolis-based musicians to form a band, Antiverse wouldn’t be too far off of the mark. Featuring Matthew Kirkwold (guitars) and Carl Skildum (vocals) — both from lauded death-black outfit Inexorum — and Mike Paradise (drums) and Jason Bauer (bass), Minnesota’s newest ragers are making quick headway to the top of America’s extreme metal heap on new album Under the Regolith."

"“Black Waves of Sorcery” is a full-on blast furnace of mad-thrashing intensity and explosive instrumental and vocal exuberance. As speedy and as thrilling as a rocket-powered roller-coaster, as vicious as a pack of racing wolves, and as imperious as trumpet fanfares and whipping banners soaring above a galloping war charge, the song could bring the dead to life, cackling with glee. But there’s a hidden, darker dimension to the track, as well as to the album that includes it"

"Pissed, extremely aggressive death/thrash metal (did I mention aggressive?) from current members of Inexorum and former members of Threadbare."
- Invisible Oranges

"‘Hallucigenia’ tells the tale of a dabbler in arcane arts, who seeks to augment a meager talent with dubious entheogens. Our unlucky protagonist attains visions of far more than bargained for, and discovers that entities beyond the veil of our reality have observed him in turn. After horrific journeys through realms of madness, something has followed him home"
- Carl Skildum, Antiverse, taken from New Noise Magazine
newnoisemagazine.com/stream-antiverse-under-regolith/

"Under the Regolith is a heavy album. An album built around raging thrash riffs and death metal savagery. Two areas of metal that works so well together, the added layer of black metal darkness certainly doesn’t do any harm either...the whole album can stand proudly amongst the best death releases this year. By time Derelicts and Shunned House come along, you’ll be thoroughly spent but so satisfied."

"Scattered throughout this new release are a number of great riffs that had me drawing comparisons to everything from Exmortus to In Flames. thrashy hooks are pervasive, and the driving harmonies and solos are worthy of your attention. Similarly the drumming is strong, as are the powerful death metal vocals."

"Wall of guitars! Melodic death/trash executed with talent and precision. Very good songwriting skills on this full-length sophomore effort. The two guitarist are also sharing vocal duties. Fans of the latest Tribulation will find enjoyable."
- Blessed Altar Zine

"Driving, generally quite well produced thrash with riffs and elements cribbed from black and death metal."

Antiverse was founded in 2013 by Carl Skildum (Inexorum, Obsequiae - live), Jason Bauer, and Mike Paradise (Hive, Martyr A.D., Disembodied). The band self-released their debut LP, Cosmic Horror, in April 2014, shortly after which they were joined by second guitarist Matthw Kirkwold (Inexorum).

With their upcoming release, Under the Regolith, the band parted ways with their previous vocalist, leaving Matt and Carl to share vocal duties. The result is a much stonger and more appropriate vocal delivery that compliments the music in a way the band has always intended.

During the writing and recording of this album the band received devastating news that Jason Bauer was facing a stage 4 cancer diagnosis... Despite this extremely difficult hardship, the band have rallied around their brother and Jason has continued to write, record, and perform with Antiverse.

Under the Regolith is a testiment to their collective passion, struggle, and brotherhood as a band.

Fans of early Megadeth riffing, alien-era Hypocrisy, latter year Dissection, Naglfar, and Armageddon will love this!
