"Hell is Real" is Axe Ripper's sophomore release on Hell City Records (08/23/2014). The physical copy of this album comes shrink wrapped and is a digipak format with a 3 page booklet.
Spewed out of the wastelands of America’s rust belt, Axe Ripper unleash a ferocious barrage of hardcore / metal combining crust, grind, and the rock n’ roll stylings that made their hometown of Detroit the first real capital of music in the United States. Zero filler, all fury, Axe Ripper spares absolutely none on their path to oblivion! Maniacal yet proficient in their onslaught, this quintet first destroyed unsuspecting eardrums on the “Welcome to Detroit Destruction” comp on Pirated Records and with the help of relentless touring and a split with Lockgnar in 2013 have cemented their reputation in various scenes for bringing a sonic attack that genuinely rips. Their newest offering, Hell is Real, only upped the ante of chaos that Axe Ripper breed. Although some of their peers are content singing about the occult, goblins, and fairytales, Axe Ripper opts for the bleak reality of life in another kind of hell where tales of suicide, murder, drug abuse, and the death of the American dream are at one’s doorstep every day and haunt the very unstable psyche. If reality is your game and you prefer passion over gloss, step up to the axe.

Pretty much the best Black/Speed Metal I've listened to since I learned about Evil Invaders and Vulture. Everything you'd love to be reminded of about this musical era is there. The influences are what you'd expect too: Motörhead, Venom, Bathory, early Slayer, Celtic Frost; aggressive vocals, tortured guitar solos, pounding drums; everything is fast, clear and still a little grimy, but without reverb cranked up to the max. Amazing band, amazing album. Odiumediae
The Brazilian metal outfit teaches a lesson in exemplary thrash, delivering palm-mute chugging, dexterous fretwork, and infuriated-but-intelligible vocals on every song Bandcamp Album of the Day Jan 21, 2021
With this 1ºLP, Subtype Zero jumps in to the ship of 'new wave of Thrash' ready to surff with great riffs and solos that will make you remind some of the most prominent old school metal bands; sometimes closer to Hardcore but not close enough to keep balance during this trip to The Astral Awakening.
